Maya Kapoor

Maya Kapoor is a graduate student with Ann Kinzig in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona University, where she is researching the social and biological effects of conservation areas in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula.  She is an associate in the IGERT (Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship) in Urban Ecolo­­gy program at ASU.  Maya worked on the Ecosystem Services Valuation project at the CAP LTER in Phoenix as a research assistant.  She is currently a research assistant with the ACSC (Advancing Conservation in a Social Context) project.  Prior to starting graduate school at ASU, Maya collected field data for a variety of projects, most recently at the Sevilleta LTER in New Mexico.  In addition to conservation biology and field ecology, Maya is interested in public outreach and environmental education.  She received a BA from Williams College and conducted an honors undergraduate research project on invasive marine invertebrates in Mystic, Connecticut.
