Sheila O'Connor

Sheila O'Connor is a senior research advisor with the Advancing Conservation in a Social Context Initiative which is run out of the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University. Sheila has a 21-year professional affiliation with WWF, currently with an emphasis on best practice and standards in conservation strategies and conservation audits. She has worked as a technical advisor on integrated conservation and development projects in Madagascar and served as WWF’s Madagascar country Programme Director for several years. In addition, Dr. O'Connor took on an interim Director role for WWF’s Africa and Madagascar Programme based in Switzerland and later headed up the Conservation Strategies Unit based in Washington D.C. Dr. O'Connor has a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental science from the University of Vermont, a Master of Philosophy and PhD from the University of Cambridge (UK) in Applied Biology.
